Speed Dates

I'm on the lookout for people of all ages, looking to either meet that special someone or just out to make a whole new gang of friends. My nights usually have 20 men and 20 women so it's always a busy one!

I've got my own Speed Dating business so if you fancy a fun night, let me know. If you need more info on what speed dating is, please - just ask.

I'm also looking for venues to hold my events in - bars, restaurants or any other exciting venues such as gyms, theatres - anywhere really, please get in touch if you feel you have something to offer.

:D

I wouldn't go speed-dating, it's not fun. I was at the venue, as part of the staff :P, when one was held. My god. They aren't all locked up..

Ah, see this is where the proof is in the pudding. You have to aim the right events at the right people in the right places. I do different nights which include student events, the older generation events, certain profressions (such as events for accountants) and age groups.

I wouldn't say 'it's not fun' at all, it's a great way to at least meet some new people with similiar things in common with you (ie being single) and who knows who else may be there

I've been and met a group of 20 very nice, normal, well educated people and had some interesting conversations. Albeit far too short. Maybe your perception of normal is off!

I meant the conversations were too short, rather than the people...

yeah I'm up for some speed dating. I did it once at Uni and that was quite good fun... but it's really all about the drinks afterwards once the people have had a chance to break the ice, then you can have a fuller conversation.

If you're still after a location, have you thought of The Lescar?
The room at the back would house a lot of people.

That's a great idea - The Lescar.

I'm starting to get the feeling that I'll be doing a couple of different nights, nights for students, nights for different age groups, nights for young professionals and nights for older professionals.

Still open to suggestions - keep em coming, thanks to everyone's so far!

The Lescar would be good for studenty evenings as its just off the main student area of Eccy Rd... I don't know what its like cos i've never been in, but I'd be up for a meet in there as its only down the road from me :)

you've never been to the lescar:o... it's the ultimate pub experience, like all different pubs in England crammed into one....
Maybe we should meet up for a pint in there sometime?

(lol... how unsmooth was that...)

Speed dating is loads of fun (though it's actually more speed breaking the ice!) and makes for a pretty good night out!

Have always fancied the idea of going to a speed dating event, but am scared stiff of going on my own (everyone I know seems to already be fixed up with someone). Plus all the events I've seen advertised seem a bit pricey. Any ladies ever been to one of these things by themselves?

Well, lots of randoms in a room together, forced to make chit chat with one another...there were some real odd bods there..I went with 3 of my female friends, everyone was huddled together in their little groups to begin with, which is why we were half cut by the time we'd sat down (dutch courage) I was really nervous at first, but once you've 'dated' a couple of them, it's funny. Really random conversations...about cardboard boxes, 80s songs and motorbikes. A great chance to meet some freaks! There were 2 fit guys there but as I was in a relationship at the time, I didn't pursue these (I went along with my mates for moral u understand)...
