Today the postie brought me lots of lovely pressies - well OK I paid for them but you know what I mean:D
From a GetKnitted COOP (10% discount for order over £100) I got 1 skein of Lornas Laces Shephard Worsted in watercolour - so soft and beautiful colours, 2 skeins of Noro silk garden (230) - vibrant colours might be some wastage when joining though grrrrr....for the rolled brim hat, some Addi turbos because Ive heard really good things and some bamboo needles for my gradual swap from aluminium to bamboo:)
From Amazon I got a new book The Knitters Book of Finishing Techniques http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/156477452X/026-8687687-8282066?%5Fencoding=UTF8 which seems very good on first flick through if a bit expensive (but work will pay for it for me as part of their 'employee development scheme':D)

The Noro silk garden yarn is absolutely gorgeous, and as for the Lorna's Laces... ::drool::
I keep reading about those Addi turbos in various blogs; they're meant to be incredibly smooth to use. I've never been able to get along with circular needles though - the cord thing always gets tangled. Have you heard about the 'Magic Loop' method of knitting socks? It's something along the lines of using two circular needles instead of the dpns. It's supposed to be pretty easy, once you get the hang of it, but I think I'd have to colour code the different cords or something. I think some people even use that method to knit two socks at the same time! Blumin' hell. I have enough trouble keeping track of one.
I've just got that book out of the library. It is good. I think I'll add it to the 'Recommended Books' section in the sticky.
Is the rolled brim hat going to be the next project after the socks?
Yes but I might need to finish a sleeve of Samus first:D Have you got the Vogue book - was wondering about getting work to pay for that too?

The one in the 'Recommended Books' section? I have got it, and it was worth every penny. Actually, it was a present, so technically it was worth every penny of someone elses money... It's very good. The Montse Stanely book is good too; it covers similar ground and is cheaper. However, the illustrations aren't as clear and it's a little dry for me. I would recommend buying the Vogue book. I find it to be an invaluable reference.
Speaking of Vogue books, these two are on my list of books to drool over:
Stitchionary: The Ultimate Stitch Dictionary: Volume 1 - Knit and Purl (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1931543771/ref=wl_it_dp/026-3001833-7360454?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=IX66AMMXIH7RE&colid=1JW8UM5SXJQOU).
Stitchionary 2: The Ultimate Stitch Dictionary: Volume 2 - Cables (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1931543895/ref=wl_it_dp/026-3001833-7360454?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I3JDH45XVQTIPS&colid=1JW8UM5SXJQOU). (Out in May)
I'm sold on the cover illustrations alone. Such beautiful colours :) .
PS. I expect to see photos soon... :D .

Either/or/both... I'd like to see the WIPs, but I'd also like to drool over a nice close-up of the Lorna's Laces... :) .
