View Full Version : Why is my body malfunctioning?
Swan_Vesta 03-04-2006, 21:28 My list of complaints are as follows:
My knees sound like they are lubricated by gravel
My neck cracks and clicks at the slightest exertation
My stools don't behave as they should, they sink like stones and smell like the Devil appeared upon this earth
My lower back appears to have formed itself into the shape of a semi circle ensuring I get no bloody sleep whatsoever
Is this normal? I'm 29 FFS, I shouldn't be a falling apart at this tender age, it's not like I don't excercise or spend all day eating filth. I'm a decent living human being ...... Why the hell is my body exhibitng traits of a 50 year old when I sould be in my prime?
Bartfarst 03-04-2006, 21:34 Funny the way it works.
My grandad took no heed of healthy livving. Heavy whiskey drinker, smoked 40-60 Park Drive non-tipped a day, no exercise, diet based around chips and pies, and never had a day's ill health in his life.
Until he dropped down dead as a nit at twenty three and a half.
On a serious note, the sort of problems you describe would suggest that an osteopath should give you the once-over. I can recommend a very good clinic, friendly and run by a husband and wife team who I know and trust well.
I'm not a believer in alternative medicines, but osteopathy is complimentary and the couple I know are very well reputed. Drop me a PM if you want their details.
You may need to change your diet too, something you are eating may not agree with you.
HappyHoosier 03-04-2006, 21:47 No helpful advice for you Swan Vesta, but I can commiserate. I pulled a lower back muscle last night by .... picking up my 12-pound terrier! I've been walking around like a 90-year-old man and groaning every time I move.

I think this is a stage our bodies go through at about your age.
You are suffering the stress of becoming a man.
Its hard work and all downhill from here old chap
Welcome to the club:thumbsup:
lizzmobile 03-04-2006, 22:22 Do you drink much water? This is something a lot of people overlook, and it can have miraculous results if you increase your intake.
And your colon will thank you, quite evidently, too!
BrainThrust 03-04-2006, 22:25 Thats not malfunctioning!
That's wear and tear ;)

sounds like u dont have enough calcium in ur body? why not try to consult ur gp or ur dietician babe?
but don't worry, ur nearly 30... ur body not falling apart lol just getting older
You're 29!! From other postings I've seen of yours I'd have put you nearer my age (51).
Adopt a young mans outlook on life (sex, drugs, rock 'n roll) and don't worry about the government.
MISSNOVAK 04-04-2006, 00:36 change your eating habits and lifestyle, and take a multivitamin daily that could help.cod liver oil capsules could help with joint problems.you may find bowel habits may get better.try not to worry too much youll be ok.
Much of what you describe does sound like wear and tear; it's downhill all the way, I'm afraid, from your mid-20s. Are you over-weight? That will play havoc with your knees and it could also cause alterations in your posture, thus putting strain on your back muscles.
As for the poo problem, what's your diet like? It sounds like you don't get enough fibre and green stuff in general. I'd also agree with LizzM, in that you'd probably benefit from drinking more water.
cod liver oil capsules - 1 a day & keep taking them. work wonders on knee joints etc.
then see a physio.
(i've suffered dodgy knees since 18 due to playing high intensity sports when the best footwear available was dunlop green flash)

.
I was struck by that Longcol, isn't it funny how you get a feeling for someone's age?
Don't worry that your best years are behind you Swanny mate, welcome to the coffin dodgers club.
So...visited your GP lately? That's what they're there for! They can normally point you somewhere for help if it's nothing they can deal with.
I'd try that first and see what they recommend.

Same here mate, I just put it down to various bumps and knocks over the years (I'm 30 next Saturday). Think I'm gonna have to let go of my dream of being a pro footballer. ;)
shoeshine 04-04-2006, 09:16 It's all that Bubble Gum you swallowed as a kid :)
Greybeard 04-04-2006, 10:23 S-V I'm twice your age +9 and feel much better than you seem to.
For joint troubles you could try Glucosamine 1000mg daily, but you need to take them for a couple of weeks or so to feel the benefit. I find a couple of pints of water a day helps with the bowel whatever your diet is like.
Most GPs these days seem to work a 4.5 day week and get around £120,000 a year. Make yours work for it :D
Have you tried increasing your alcohol intake. I find it has remarkable healing qualities. Try two pints, every 4 hours. If that doesn't work, consult your publican.

Top man Longcol  That's praise indeed, no longer a whippersnapper in short trews and considered by my peers to be a grown up at long last!! :)
I've started to eat lots of fish in an attempt to get the omega 3 into my system and drink about two litres of water a day, I'm running a bit and trying to prize myself into the gym a bit more. I'm not horredously overweight but am carrying a wee bit of baggage around the waist, I've reduced my drinking to near enough what the Govt reccommends per week and have just got a load of cod liver oil in - I think that i'll get some of the calcium supplements.
It think everyone is correct in that it's probably just wear and tear, I've been used to going through life feeling invincible and am starting to realise that I'm not the youth I used to be.
