View Full Version : What network works for talk talk
snakebec 25-06-2012, 13:46 Im thinking of getting a talk talk sim and have no idea what network your phone has to be on for it to work, my phones not unlocked and it's an iPhone so will cost a lot to unlock has I don't want it jailbroke, does anyone know the network u need?
If it's an iPhone and locked, nothing will work, apart from the network it's locked to.
I found this on their website:
Sorry, TalkTalk Mobile will not work with the iPad or iPhone 4 at this time. The type of SIM card required for use within the iPad and iPhone 4 is a micro-SIM. TalkTalk Mobile does not support micro-SIMs.

snakebec 25-06-2012, 15:59 It's a 3GS so not a micro sim, might have to get it unlocked then, thank u

If you're handy with a craft knife you can soon make your own micro sim or buy a cutter off eBay.
Harmonymagic 25-06-2012, 17:12 It's Vodafone.
So if your on Vodafone network a talk talk sim will def work?

I'm not guaranteeing it, but if your phone is locked to Vodafone then a TalkTalk sim should work in it too. TalkTalk are a virtual operator who use Vodafone's network. The phone shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the network it's locked to & other cheaper virtual operator sims which use the same network. So Asda & TalkTalk should work on Vodafone locked handsets, Tesco & GiffGaff should work on O2 locked handsets, not sure about others.
If it's a contract phone & the contract is finished I think most networks will give you an unlock code for free, if it's a prepaid handset you may be charged £15 or £20.

Just pick up a sim and try it out you can one from poundland.

I don't think you can, they're 30 day rolling contracts. Start at £5/month, first month is £2.50 if you order online.

swarfendor43 26-06-2012, 19:01 Noooooo! Not Vodafone! Relative recently bought iPhone4 - that has got a giffgaff microsim - just log onto giffgaff.com, get a PAC code from Vodafone (are you on PAYG?) then you get to keep your number and get free giffgaff to giffgaff calls - you only need to top up £10 every 3 months for this - texts to other networks 6p voice calls 12p - compared to 25p for most operators - runs off the back of o2 network and you get instant texts after each call /text to let you know your balance - it is BRILLIANT!
anywebsite 26-06-2012, 19:16 If you have a phone that is locked to Vodafone & not easy to unlock then it limits your options a bit.
