Where have they come from?

i was attacked last night by one (it wasnt a dream) because i woke up and it was buzzing about in the bathroom.

where have they come from?

They seem alot bigger than normal (yellow bummed) bees?

are they a new species?
have you seen any?

What's disturbing me more is why you were asleep in the bathroom in the first place :shocked:

with as many as 20-30 species to choose from in the UK (and hundreds worldwide) its unlikely to be a new species.

I have seen em before. Dunno what they are though

Was it a "Bombus lapidarius"?

Hmm. Perhaps is was a male 'Bombus pratorum' .

yes it was the one in the middle. but larger (i think)

This FAQ section had me intrigued.....

the first time i was ever stung by a bee i was on my baike and it hit me in the left neck area and knocked me off my bike. it wasnt the sting that hurt that time it was the big chunk out of my leg that did!
