View Full Version : Do fast-food staff ever spit in our meals?
jackthedog 22-04-2004, 11:42 I always think that when the staff at Mcdonalds or Burger King get annoyed with stupid customers, they must be tempted to add a special little something to their meal.
Does anyone know of this actually happening?
Anyone had first hand experience?
What a strange question - I'm more interested in knowing why you asked rather than whether it's true or not :P
I've seen adverts for TV shows such as "Chef's from Hell" which I'm fairly confident included CCTV footage of people spitting in food.
Hope that helps :loopy: :D
jackthedog 22-04-2004, 12:03 I'll explain why I ask.
A while back I was at the counter of the local burger place, and there was a car at the drive-thru window that seemed to be full of lads, and they were giving the girl a hard time, taking the mickey and changing their orders and stuff, and generally being idiots.
I just thought it would be so instantly gratifying for her to have just added that little extra ingredient to their burgers before serving them up.
They prepare the food out of sight of the customers, so could be doing anything to it! It must happen occasionally, surely?
I know i'd never give the staff a hard time, I wouldnt want an extra topping on my Whopper meal... :)
Mc SpitBurger and Fries anyone !!!?

mojoworking 22-04-2004, 12:51 I have heard that Michael Winner (the universally despised movie director and erstwhile restaurant critic) has unintentionally eaten more human semen than any other person alive.
Although obviously (Tony and Max), I have no concrete proof of this :)
Fireondaroof 22-04-2004, 14:02 I know someone who told me that he had spit in peoples meals a few times. He worked at KFC in Meadowhall. I never went there after that.
Lickable 22-04-2004, 14:18 Yes they do... Just pray that they ate something good before hand.
Sam Miguel 22-04-2004, 14:58 Of course this sort of thing happens. Have you never had a burger from Burger King? They are phlegm grilled.
I doubt it happens very often.
I'd rather not know to be honest. As long as I don't taste it and I don't get ill from it, then why should I care?

It happens more often than you really want to know. I watched some of that prog Geoff mentioned and it was quite amusing to see what went into, and onto, the burgers.
Yeah thanks for that...
As I said, I'd rather not know...
Spitting is the least of your worries! Some of the stories from friends mean I aint ever going near KFC again!
Think other bodily fluids, then think worse! Mind you - it takes talent to cover a zinger burger in..........:nono:
thenewborn 22-04-2004, 15:34 if anything im sure the burgers dont get any worse than they already are
I've seen it on programmes where hidden cameras have been employed and it was alarming. It was mainly places in America that were been shown though thankfully. However, spitting was by far not the most digusting thing that was observed.
With the crap that's in the burgers to start with, I don't think a bit of some losers' spit will kill you. That's not to say that I think they should do it though, because anyone that does do that is clearly below contempt.
Mosherchik 22-04-2004, 17:27 I tend to avoid the fast food "eateries" at all costs and have only ever had something from McDonalds out of sheer desperation for food :loopy: as far as bodily fluids being part of the recipe for a "big" mac, that only makes me avoid the place more, I can believe it happening. I know from people who have worked in such places... me included for all of 2 days, that even stuff dropped on the floor is whacked straight back on the hotplate... after all waste not want not and the heat might kill any bacteria on there  ahem
I certainly hope things like that don't happen but if someone did want to do such a thing could they do it without being seen?
At the one's I use I can see the kitchen staff preparing the food and there's always plenty of staff milling about, managers included.
why not? smokers have got to get rid of that 'orrible brown phlegm somewhere.
Chris_Sleeps 25-04-2004, 18:57 I worked with someone ages ago who used to work in Mcdonalds, and he told me stories of junkies in the toilet and the staff have to clear up after them, all for minimum wage. As if McDonalds wasn't a crap enough job already.
He also told me some of the staff spat in the food of cops, but if they do it in their food it could be in yours aswell. Myself, i've not had fast food in years. Far too crappy to even contemplate.
Chris.
A.B.Yaffle 25-04-2004, 19:25 Well when I helped out at a take-away place a few of the regular customers on their way back from the pub would become racially abusive to the chef, and I did think it might be a good idea for him to add "extras" to their food! But to my knowledge he never did.

That doesn't bother me in the slightest. Don't tell me you've never dropped something you were preparing for yourself, and then eaten it regardless?

Not since we've had the dog :D you drop any item food or otherwise on the floor and its gone before you can even blink!
But previous to dog ownership if I dropped anything on the floor, it tended to either get washed under the sink if it wasnt too bad... which I cant see happening in McDonalds or it did go straight in the bin. I do have some food hygiene standards!
