Hi!

Is anyone on this forum interested in Pervasive Gaming?

For those that don't know what it is, it's where you play a game in physical space rather than on a computer or round a board, often interacting with actors, or using mobile technology to improve the experience.

Recently I've been chased by zombies through the streets of Liverpool, and directed another player through Manchester using camera phones.

I'd like to set up a group in Sheffield to run games like this. I'm also interested in running games of Werewolf (the parlour game also known as Mafia, not the World of Darkness version) and new sports like Circle Rules Football. Anyone interested?

Some examples of groups in other cities that play pervasive games:
Slingshot in Bristol run the amazing http://2.8hourslater.com/
Larkin About, Manchester (http://larkin-about.co.uk/)
Team Hat, Bristol (Facebook) (https://www.facebook.com/TeamHat)
Hide and Seek, London (http://www.hideandseek.net/)
Fire Hazard, London (http://fire-hazard.net/)

I'd love to get a regular Warewolves game going, I have my cards ready!!!! :D (But have lost my expansion pack :( )

I'm hoping to get a game group meet running some time where we can decide one week what the next meet's game will be etc, and vary it each time...

Snap! I was thinking maybe once a fortnight, to play games you can play in the pub, then maybe once a month stuff like Capture the Flag and Scavenger Hunts etc in the park. This would hopefully lead up a few one of bigger games - I've got an idea formulating for a city wide Pirate Game.

It's a fantastic idea. I've been doing this for years (in various forms and names) and I'd wholeheartedly support it here!

Awww I was hoping for larping :( :hihi:
Sounds good did anyone play the Microsoft fable treasure hunt game. You had to physically go to places and check in to receive treasure the treasure was then linked to your Xbox account and transferred into the fable game.

Nice one everyone, I was worried I'd be met with a load of blank faces!

I reckon I'll print some posters up and arrange a meeting somewhere for a bit of Werewolf and discussion of where to go from there. TBH I'd be happy with a group of people to travel to games in other cities if nowt else!

For werewolves we need a minimum of 9 ideally 12+

I have a couple of other games that can be played with less, that are great fun... :D

I could get into this - Any clues as to how Werewolf plays out? Never heard of it, as the website doesnt really mention much

I have played many games of Werewolves... i'm experienced at running the game/sessions... it all depends on the number of players how it plays out, and also the GM who chooses what cards and in what quantity there are..

the more experienced players can learn to pick things up, while the newer ones make for interestnig aspects too...

The best way to learn is to play!

Indeed... if we can get enough people (I'd say 10+) together soon, then we'll get a small game going... :D

We can get 10 together in an evening with barely any effort. :D

I believe that there are already groups playing Vampire and probably other LARP games in Sheffield.

This isn't the same as a LARP game...

I don't have time right now to explain the differences. Sure, it's similar-ish, but only vaguely.

You can sum larping up as "getting dressed up and poncing about in the park/woods/countryside" :hihi:

You could, but unless someone has turned the city centre into park/woods/countryside you'd be at least wrong on that part of the description wouldn't you :suspect:

What night would be best for everyone if we made this a regular thing? How about Sunday evenings?

I've contacted the Riverside pub, hope to hear back from them soon.

Is anyone interested in helping to organise a big game? Possibly in September/October.
